Dr. Andrew I. Kim is a gastroenterologist who is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998, and his medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in 2002.
He subsequently completed three years of residency in internal medicine at the UCLA/VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. This was followed by a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. With this eminent academic background, and his vast knowledge of the field, he has become one of the most respected digestive diseases specialists in Southern Nevada.
Dr. Kim has expertise in an array of intestinal and liver disorders. His areas of interest include general gastroenterology, hepatology including peri-transplant care, screening colonoscopy, polypectomy, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, Radiofrequency ablation therapy for Barrett’s esophagus, swallowing disorders, stomach cancer screening, peptic ulcer treatment, celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, HIV-associated intestinal disorders, chronic diarrhea, chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, liver diseases, and viral hepatitis. Having trained under some of the world’s foremost thought leaders in gastroenterology at UCLA, he has gained a great deal of experience in managing complex gastrointestinal disorders.
Dr. Kim has published articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has been a reviewer for medical journals including the American Journal of Gastroenterology and Hospital Physician. He has also been named a “Top Physician” by Nevada Business Magazine and “Specialist of the Year” while providing care at one of the largest multispecialty groups in Nevada previously.
One of Dr. Kim's passions is the provision of care to underserved communities. He has traveled extensively for medical missions, providing medical care for the indigent in numerous developing countries including Cambodia, Peru, Honduras, and throughout Mexico.
